Three Lees in a Pod plus the Little Sprout: Worn Out

On June 25, 2008, at 30 weeks gestation, we welcomed our three Lees in a pod to our family. Piper was born at 12:36 p.m. weighing 3 pounds 2 ounces, Henry followed at 12:37 p.m. weighing 3 pounds 15 ounces, and Rosemary showed up last at 12:37 p.m. weighing 1 pound 14 ounces. On August 2, 2008, Piper came home from the NICU at what would have been 35 weeks and 3 days of gestation weighing 4 pounds 15 ounces. On August 7, 2008, Henry followed and came home at what would have been 36 weeks and 1 day of gestation weighing 6 pounds. Finally, on August 16, 2008, at what would have been 37 weeks and 3 days gestation, Rosemary came home weighing 4 pounds 4 ounces. On August 10, 2010, at 39 weeks and 4 days gestation, we welcomed Penelope to our family. She was born at 12:35 p.m. weighing 7 pounds 14.8 ounces. On August 13, 2010, she and her mama came home from the hospital on the same day, with Penelope weighing in at 7 pounds 4 ounces.

Worn Out

On weekday mornings, I get up and take a shower and get ready. Then, Gary takes a shower and gets ready while I get Penelope up, nurse her, and pump before the kids wake up. While I pump, I lay Penelope on the floor on a blanket with some toys to play. It looks like I’m not the only one tired from all of these recent middle of the night nursing sessions. Here is a photo I took of Penelope this past Friday after I finished pumping:

She did sleep through the night last night, but the night before we got up twice. Now I think she’s in the middle of a growth spurt – she nursed twice more today than she normally does on weekend days. I guess that time will tell. Penelope is as happy as she can be, though, which is the most important thing!
