Penelope I woke up early again this past Wednesday morning, as Penelope I did every morning on vacation (except for the last one). I took Penelope downstairs with me to start a pot of coffee, and Henry woke up and went downstairs with us. At this point I’d realized that there were some things Nana and I had forgotten to pick up at the grocery store on Tuesday, so I decided that we’d make use of the early morning time and head to the grocery store. Henry was extremely excited that he got to go to the grocery store with me.
The kids have recently figured out that to get “things” we have to go buy them. So when they ask us for bananas or something and we don’t have any, they say, “Mama go buy some.” Once I told Henry that we were going to the grocery store, he started saying that he wanted to “buy some.” And by “buy some” he meant that he wanted to buy some “burrs” (or bears for those of you who don’t speak toddler – and bears are actually Teddy Grahams). You should have seen the excitement on his face when he realized at the grocery store that “chocolate burrs” existed. We bought two boxes of them. I had to do a bit of convincing to get him to hand those boxes over to the cashier, but he did and was rewarded when he got his “chocolate burrs” back in a bag! He carried the bag and never let go of it until we got back to the condo.
At that point, there was really nothing to do but to have some Teddy Grahams for breakfast.
After that we put on our swimsuits and headed to the pool. This time we went to our smaller “neighborhood” pool instead of the bigger pool by the beach. This really worked out well because it was far less crowded. Again, the kids had a blast. And Penelope even got in a little nap.
We did the same afternoon routine, where Gary bathed the kids while I took a shower, then everyone ate lunch and we took a nap. After that, one of Gary’s friends (since Gary was in preschool), Bryan, came over to visit. We all went out to dinner, where the kids were not on their best behavior. Luckily, Bryan didn’t seem to mind too much.
After dinner, we all went back to the condo to put the kids in bed (but took a few more photos before bedtime).
After the kids were in bed, we hung out for a while then were ready for bed ourselves.
