This past Saturday, while Gary was mowing the yard, Penelope had a fit to see him. She managed to pull a chair over to the backdoor, climbed up on the chair, then stood there yelling for “Daddy” for the longest time. She is definitely turning into a Daddy’s girl, despite all my attempts to keep her a Mama’s baby. . . .
Penelope’s personality comes out more and more each day, and her personality seems to get bigger every day. Lately her biggest thing is doing everything by herself. I put her in her highchair, and as soon as I start trying to buckle her in she starts yelling, “Buckle self!! Self! Self! Seeeeeeelfffff” Ugh. I’m totally a “I’ll-do-it-myself” type of person so I understand that desire, but at the same time I’m not so good at the patience part of it. I’m getting better. I just have to sit and wait. . . .
Penelope is already 20 months old. It’s amazing to me that she’s almost 2. I think we will all always think of her as the baby (and we all still call her “Baby” – a la Dirty Dancing – more than we call her Penelope). But Penelope totally believes that she is actually almost 4, just like the big kids.
Baby is growing up. And she’s doing it so well. . . .
