Three Lees in a Pod plus the Little Sprout: Hiking and a Picnic

On June 25, 2008, at 30 weeks gestation, we welcomed our three Lees in a pod to our family. Piper was born at 12:36 p.m. weighing 3 pounds 2 ounces, Henry followed at 12:37 p.m. weighing 3 pounds 15 ounces, and Rosemary showed up last at 12:37 p.m. weighing 1 pound 14 ounces. On August 2, 2008, Piper came home from the NICU at what would have been 35 weeks and 3 days of gestation weighing 4 pounds 15 ounces. On August 7, 2008, Henry followed and came home at what would have been 36 weeks and 1 day of gestation weighing 6 pounds. Finally, on August 16, 2008, at what would have been 37 weeks and 3 days gestation, Rosemary came home weighing 4 pounds 4 ounces. On August 10, 2010, at 39 weeks and 4 days gestation, we welcomed Penelope to our family. She was born at 12:35 p.m. weighing 7 pounds 14.8 ounces. On August 13, 2010, she and her mama came home from the hospital on the same day, with Penelope weighing in at 7 pounds 4 ounces.

Hiking and a Picnic

This past weekend we took the kids on a hike and had a picnic.

Penelope loves her backpack. She goes crazy as soon as she sees it, and can’t wait to ride on Gary’s back. I’m sure that Gary’s about ready for her to be able to walk on her own, though, because she is starting to get pretty heavy. . . .

The big kids happily ran and jumped and played the entire hike. It makes me so happy that they love being outside as much as they do. Hiking is such a perfect family activity for us all.
