Backyard Swimming

The kids really, really love “swimming” in their inflatable pool in the backyard.  They go nuts when they find out they can swim, and this past Saturday was no exception.  Gary was out of town for several days, including over the weekend (in Belize celebrating his 40th birthday!), but Auntie Ann came to visit and hang out.  The weather wasn’t looking very promising for the weekend, so I wanted the kids to play outside and burn some energy while they could.  They ended up running and “swimming” for about 5 hours before we headed back in for baths and naptime.

Of course, I was out there taking some photos.  I’ll go ahead and warn you that I’m currently taking Emma Wood’s breakout session on Visualization | Black & White through Clickin Moms, so I’m really into black and white photos right now!  I don’t know that I normally would have converted these photos to black and white, but I’m practicing so I wanted to give it a shot.  So, consider it fair warning that you’re going to see a lot of black and white experimentation as I play with what I’m learning over the next week or two and see what works for me. . . .

{Piper was cold, so she headed over to the dryer vent to warm up a bit – isn’t that hilarious?}

{The photo above is a mild version of the “stinkeye” that we see so often from Penelope.}

i loved these!!!!!! precious kiddos...out of my own curiosity, what size swim shorts does henry wear? in that style, we would still be in 12-18m, or 18-24m max!

belize??? you didn't go? :)

Hey, Esther!! Henry is wearing a 3T and sometimes 4T in shorts (he wears a 100 in Hanna Andersson). I had Henry in a 12-18m or 18-24m last year, but then I learned that the 18-24m is wider through the waist than the T shorts, and the T shorts are longer. To my surprise, the T shorts actually fit "snugger" than the "smaller" ones. Give it a try and see what you think!

Oh, and no Belize for me. This was a guys trip. I was invited, but was more than happy to skip this one out. :) I'll get my trip when I turn 40 in a few years!!!
