Visiting (Great) Grandma

This past weekend I took the kids to visit my mom and dad (Nana and Papa). While we were there, we went to see my grandma (the kids' great grandma) and took some pictures.

Here I am with my dad, Grandma, and the babies:

And here is my dad, Grandma, Aunt Jack (Grandma's sister), and the babies:

And the rest of the pictures are with the whole group, Dad, Aunt Jack, Grandma, my two brothers Seth and Zac, Seth's daughter Sydney, Zac's daughter Laramy, the babies, and me (in no particular order):

Hot (well, really Mild) Wings!

Just so that that the football experience would be complete, the kids had their first taste of hot (they were really mild) wings this past Saturday night for dinner. Here's Piper:

Henry:

And Rosemary:

Overall, the kids were not as impressed with the wings as we had expected. We'll have to see how it goes the next time. . . .

First Football Game of the Season

Gary has been very excited about the first football game of the season. Well, he's been excited about the entire football season, but we have seriously been on a countdown for the first game of the season for a few months. In preparation, Gary ordered some Gators cheerleading outfits for the girls and a Tim Tebow football jersey for Henry. (By the way, I saw how much those things cost and I'm sure that I won't hear any more complaining about any children's trunk show I may attend.)

So, in preparation for the big day, Gary also started planning the photos that he wanted me to take for his blog. . . .

Gary: So, I thought we'd get a picture of me with one of the kids watching the game.
Me: Okay.
Gary: And also a picture of them all together.
Me: Uhm . . . okay.
Gary: I thought we could sit them all in the chairs . . .
Me: [Looking at Gary like he may be crazy.]
Gary: . . . and take a picture of them watching the game.
Me: [Laughing way too hard to talk.]

It wasn't completely insane to get a picture of Gary with one of the kids watching the game. However, the kids were pretty riled up for the game on Saturday and weren't so into sitting still.

Then -- we got to the part where Gary was ready to "sit them all in chairs and take pictures of them watching the game." I just told Gary to put them in their chairs and I'd take the pictures. . . .

Afterwards, Gary said that he has no idea how Heather Swanner gets any pictures of the kids at all. I have to agree.

I Don't Really Understand It Either.

The babies were a little bored this past weekend, so we decided to let them loose in our bedroom. I don't know why we did that, but the babies liked it.

Eventually they migrated toward our bathroom. I think maybe Gary is the one who said, "Let's put them in the bathtub!" and then for some reason I thought that was a great idea. Again, I don't really know why. And I also don't understand how that kept them occupied for a good 30 minutes. . . .

On the Mend. . . .

I haven't updated the blog in over a week. That is about the longest I've ever gone without updating the blog. . . . All of us have been sick, including Brooke. (It was NOT swine flu, though our pediatrician says that just about everyone around here has it.) We've had antibiotics, shots, prescription diaper cream, you name it. But (knock on wood), we all appear to be on the mend and returning to normalcy. . . . I'll try to make up for the lack of pictures and blog posts this week!
